Schedule

DAY 01: HACIENDA – VALLEY FLOOR – SALINAS – MARAS – HUAYPO LAKE.

Flat terrain on the valley floor and rocky with ascent and ravines to Salinas and Maras; with floor variants between 2800 meters above sea level. – 3600 meters above sea level.

09:00 The staff that makes up our work team will be waiting for you at the facilities of our Hacienda, so that they can meet you moments before the start of the ride; An experienced Chalán will show you the correct technique to use in this equine breed, as well as provide you with information and recommendations that you will need to put into practice throughout your ride.

10:00 We will start this adventure, at the level of the valley floor and after going through some forests of native flora (Llaulli, Tara, Chachacomo, Tánkar, Queuña, etc) as well as exotic (Eucalyptus, Cypress, Pine) located on the banks of the Vilcanota River and fields of white corn agriculture, we will begin to gain height riding uphill towards the Salinas de Maras, where we will make our first stop to tour the salt complex that dates back to times before the Inka culture.

12:00 Arrival at the Salinas and walk.

12:30 We will restart the ride taking an abrupt path towards the second summit, where the picturesque town of Maras and its immense fields of cultivation of the Andean potato tuber are located.

13:00 Lunch in Maras.

14:00 After overcoming the steepest part of this section, the high peaks will offer us their incomparable and privileged panoramic view of the natural environment, from where it is possible to appreciate the sunset and a large part of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas with its snowy peaks .

17:00 After hard work for our horses, we will arrive at the charming Huaypo Lake, where we will spend the night in a set of beautiful domes overlooking the lagoon.

18:30 Dinner and overnight.

DAY 02. HUAYPO – MARAS – MORAY – VALLEY VIEWPOINT – PAUCARBAMBA.

09:00 Breakfast.

10:00 After having appreciated the spectacular sunrise in the midst of a symphony of songs of the various birds that meet in the forest of this lagoon and having enjoyed a good breakfast, we will begin the ride down the hill towards to the town of Maras, for which we will cross extensive fields of potatoes, barley, oats, beans, and many other regional agricultural products.

After having ridden for about two to three hours through picturesque ravines, we will arrive at a Catholic temple built in the 16th century called Ttiobamba, located shortly before reaching the district of Maras and its stone portals adorned with heraldic shields of the colony.

13:00 Lunch in Maras.

14:00 A nostalgic path will transport us to the last Seed Air Conditioning Complex of the Inka period “Moray” which we will observe from a viewpoint located in the upper part of the complex, which gives us the possibility of appreciating 100% of the archaeological complex that helps us understand how it works and its thermal system adapted to the relief of nature.

We will ride downhill along a very narrow steep road until we reach the Valley View point and after enjoying the cool breeze from the valley, we will descend to the valley floor and thus arrive at our Hacienda located in Paucarbamba.
